Biography
Mike began his legal career as a JAG Officer after he was commissioned in the United States Navy in 1990. He served in that role for four year and earned the rank of Lieutenant while enjoying the rich history and beautiful scenery around Pearl Harbor. While in the Navy, Mike was appointed the Special Assistant to the United States Attorney for Honolulu, Hawaii. Mike was able to earn invaluable trial and other litigation experience as he defended the United States from federal tort actions.
Mike had only been in private practice for one year when he joined Pete Sewell in starting this firm in 1995. He now focuses his practice on worker’s compensation defense. He now applies the vigilance expected by the Armed Forces to defending businesses faced with sometimes massive claims for injuries that can have a meaningful impact on the business’s livelihood.
Mike is an avid lover of the outdoors as evidenced by his majoring in Geology and serving on the University of Kentucky’s Journal of Law and Mineral Policy during law school. Mike enjoys hiking, swimming, skiing, and just about any other outdoor activity the Louisville area can offer when he isn’t helping his clients. Mike has also competed in multiple marathons as well as an Ironman Triathlon.
