Biography
Berlin knew he wanted to be a lawyer early on in his education. He was inspired by the dedication and actions of the Founders of our country, many of whom were lawyers. After graduating from Emory University as a prelaw student in 1990, Berlin attended University of Louisville School of Law and graduated in 1993.
Berlin has a unique perspective as a defense attorney as he began his legal career as a plaintiff’s lawyer. Berlin began his practice as a defense attorney in 2000 when he joined Pedley Zielke Gordinier & Pence in Louisville Kentucky and eventually became a partner with the firm. Berlin defended self-insureds in civil cases including workers compensation, personal injury, slip and fall, motor vehicle accidents, and trucking cases in all state and federal courts throughout Kentucky. Berlin was also involved in mass tort and product’s liability cases with asbestos and silicosis litigation.
In 2010, Berlin joined Lynch Cox Gilman & Goodman of Louisville, Kentucky as of counsel in the firm’s insurance defense section. He continued to litigate in workers compensation, personal injury, slip and fall, motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, mass tort/products liability. Berlin expanded his practice and began to litigate in construction, UM, UIM, and insurance coverage cases.
In May of 2020, Berlin joined Sewell & Neal as a member and continues to advocate for his clients in the same areas. Berlin holds an AV Rating with Martingdale-Hubbell and has considerable experience both before and at trial as well as on appeal. When Berlin is not practicing law, he enjoys cooking for his family and friends. He also enjoys volunteering with his son’s swim team.
